TAAF Games of Texas
The crown jewel in the TAAF organization is the Games of Texas. The Games of Texas is the ultimate amateur athletic sports festival for Texas' many athletes. Established in 1986, the Games is patterned after the Olympic Games and U.S. Olympic Sports Festivals. The Games provides a forum for training and competition among Texas' own Olympic hopefuls, as well as both youth and adult recreational athletes, with participant ages ranging from 4 to 84. Since 1991, the U.S. Olympic Committee has recognized the TAAF Games of Texas as an official State Games.
In 2006, TAAF partnered with the City of Frisco to offer the first Winter Games of Texas. The event was so successful that the City of Frisco has signed on to host the festival through the year 2010.
The Summer Games of Texas is a traveling festival with events being planned as far ahead as the year 2013.
